What you find lurkingin your backyard

Friday 16 October, 2009 - 21:16 by Mandy in Default

I headed out after tea this evening to make the most of daylight saving when I got the shock of my life....

An invader...lol...

I quickly ran inside without disturbing the culprit which was swimming around in our pool like he/she owned it to grab the camera....

Whilst I was busy trying to get the best shot Daniel our youngest thought he would take the opportunity in feeding the duck....

It was most greatful for the gesture by my son....

Then , once it`s belly was full it was off into the big blue yonder....

For the cracked pots in my life

Monday 05 October, 2009 - 10:29 by Mandy in Default

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of
a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and
always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked
pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home
only one and a half pots of water..

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and
miserable that it could only do ha lf of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to
the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to
leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your
side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk
back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to
decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty
to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we
each have that make our lives together so very interesting and
rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the
good in them.

SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to
smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Thought I`d visit the old stomping ground

It`s been a long time between blogs and by the looks of things a lot of the old bloggers have disappeared..

So much has happened within home life, too much for one blog but in general lifes been good...

Bought the kids a Wii and I must say it certainly gives one a workout...For days I was so sore, muscles I didn`t even know I had were aching beyond belief....lol

Currently the kids are on school holidays so the new toy has kept them well occupied..Especially the youngest...Burns up that excess energy which seems to be an endless supply when it comes to him...

Hubby has been in and out of hospital with health issues but overall he is getting better...Slowly but surely...

And as for me well same ol same ol..It`s one day at a time...

BEWARE Loonies on the road

It`s been a sick month especially with the kids..

No sooner have they got themselves over one thing they seem to catch something else....

Up until yesterday I had been fortunate not to get myself sick but alas I knew my run would soon come to an abrupt halt..

The enevitable happened and now i`m the sick one...

But as you mums know ever so well we are the ones who have to keep going, sickness or not....

Speaking of the enevitable for the last 12 months I had managed to put the breaks on my daughter from getting her Learners permit to drive...

I conveniently misplaced her birth certificate (literally couldn`t find it) lol......

Over the holidays missy was so desperate to go for her L`s that we had to get a new one....

Once she had that birth certificate in her hot little hand she was straight down to the rego department sitting for her L`s and low and behold she bloody well passed.....

Oh my lordy.....

Now the fun begins....

I had a weak moment yesterday and thought I would get her behind the wheel.....

Please give me strength as I`m feeling I will be needing lots of it....That and lots of vallium..lol

As we have a manual car she got as far as second gear at a speed of 5 ks.....Then she panicked and we started kangaroo jumping until the car stalled....

Oh I can see we are going to have soooo much fun teaching this girl how to drive...lol
